Welcome to the second Spark Of Hope Blog post and today is going to be a shorter blog post because we are all busy working on books. But I am going to give you a simple riddle that can challenge believers and bring non-believers to Christ! This Spark Of Hope is dedicated to my Scout Master from BSA, who helped me make it through to Eagle!
Actually it is a riddle he told a lot! It always got everyone because we would always either over think it or under think it. First Im going to tell you the Riddle then Im going to give you the symbolism to it.
Imagine that you are in a room. It is the middle of a harsh winter and you need a form of heat to be able to stay alive. There are multiple things you can light to keep you warm and cook food as well. You have a match, a lantern, a oven, and a fire place. Which do you light first?
We would often say the fire-place or the oven. The thing is its a trick question, but let me explain the symbolism. Imagine that you are in a room (your life) It is the middle of a harsh winter (trying times) and you need a form of heat (something that helps you make it through the trying times) to be able to stay alive. There are multiple things you can light to keep you warm and cook food as well. You have a match (your decision to let Jesus take full control of your life and help you through life), a lantern (your ministry), a oven (Gods calling for you), and a fire place (your hopes and dreams). Which do you light first?
The thing is you have to light the match first. Nothing else can be lit without that match being lit and shining its light and heat to be able to start warmth for you. Once the match is lit you can light the lantern, which could light the oven, then you use the coals from the oven to help light the fireplace!
Now the challenge question I have for you is this. Are you going to light the match, or if you already have what are you going to light with it? Even though Satan can make the match flicker he can never put it out and standing with god the match will never burn up. So today where ever you are ARE YOU GOING TO LIGHT THE MATCH?
